Shin Duk Kang was my first formal
martial arts teacher.  I remember him
as a kind man and amazing, skillful
martial artist.  Master Kang inspired
me with his lightening speed,
incredible technique and his kind
heart.
My love affair with the martial
arts started at the age of 9
yrs. old when every week I
watched  a TV character we
knew as Kato dispatched
villains with graceful kicks
and punches.
Hanshi William H. Duessel was my
chief and primary instructor in the
style of Isshinryu Karate.
I consider Hanshi Duessel my father
of the martial arts, he laid the
foundation for my life long training.
Hanshi Duessel received his black belt from the founder of Isshinryu Karate the late Tatsuo
Shimabuku.  Hanshi Duessel has adhered to the teachings of Tatsuo Shimabuku and is the
highest ranking Isshinryu World Karate Association instructor in the United States.
"The mediocre teacher tells.  The good teacher explains.
The superior teacher demonstrates.  The great teacher inspires."
William Arthur Ward
Master Charles Wallace, a magnificent technician in Isshinryu Karate,
and for many years right hand to Hanshi Duessel.

Master Wallace, I affectionally call "Sensei" was a mentor and a strong
encouragement in the young formlative years of my karate training.
Soke Daniel Verkerke is one of my current instructors and is in my opinion one of
foremost innovators in martial arts today.  Soke Verkerke is the founder of Seicho
Jutsu and a 10th Dan in Ninjitsu.  Seicho Jutsu has been recognized by the
Canadian Government as a Canadian martial art   Soke Dan has so many
accolades, awards and honors that I could hardly mention them all here, although I
consider it an honor for me to call him sensei and friend.
Dr. Dan McEaddy, 10th Dan in Angelic Ninjitsu.  Grandmaster, Soke, Doctor,
Professor, Founder, Minister are just some of the many titles belonging to this
extraordinary martial artist.

Dr. Dan McEaddy along with his remarkable personal achievements is a gentle
but thorough teacher able to convey the deepest of truths in a simple
memorable approach.  Dr. McEaddy is my instructor, mentor, and exemplary.
Dr. Ron Balas, 10th Dan, Founder, Grandmaster, and Grand Patriarch of Tai Shin Doh.
Soke Ron is not only distinguished martial artist, a brilliant educator, and a prominent
social worker and counselor, he is a human encyclopedia of the martial arts, with over
50 years of experience.  I am very blessed to call Soke Ron my teacher, advisor and
my friend.
Dr. Giovani Acevedo from Puerto Rico is a
skillful martial artist and talented teacher.  He
is the Founder of the International Goju
Kempo Federation has been a remarkable
friend, teacher, and advisor.
"Given enough time any man may master the physical.  With
enough knowledge any man may become wise.
It is the true warrior who can master both......and surpass the
result."

Tribute to the Masters

This a tribute to the great Masters of martial arts that have
so unselfishly  given of themselves and given their knowledge
to so many of us that called ourselves their students.
These are just a few who have touched my life.
