Qigong (or ch'i kung) is an internal
Chinese meditative practice which
often uses slow graceful movements
and controlled breathing techniques
to promote the circulation of qi within
the human body, and enhance a
practitioner's overall health. Qi is said
to be "life force" energy, bio-electric
vitality that can be learned to be used
for great good.
There are three main reasons why
people do qigong:
1) To gain strength, improve health or reverse
a disease
2) To gain skill working with qi, so as to
become a healer
3) To become more connected with the "God,
The Source, Great Spirit, Tao", for a more
meaningful connection with nature and the
universe.
Many Qigong practitioners show profound
anti-aging effects, often looking decades younger
than their actual age.
Some also possess an incredible ability to heal
other people.
Most notably Qigong is used to for improving
digestion (larger bowel movements/enhanced
detoxification), strengthening blood circulation,
keeping a strong immune system and overall -
extending lifespan.
Everyone is born with qi (chi) and everyone has the potential to use qi
for many purposes.
It is the same way as swimming, we are born with the potential to swim but only
when we acquire the skill to swim then we can enjoy different water activities
such as scuba diving, water polo, free style, butterfly swimming, etc.
In the same manner, the skill to use qi is trained not born.
Once a person is trained how to use qi, he or she then can use qi for martial
arts, dancing, sports, mental and emotional development and of course, medical
issues with self-healing.
Did you know that physicians now agree
that over 70% of disease and illness is
stress related and preventable through
specific physical and mental exercises?
