Employment: Self-Employed, Recently Retired (2006) Deputy Sheriff with the Allegheny County Sheriffs Office, Pittsburgh, Pa. (since 1989), Law Enforcement Experience: Detective for over 10 years in the Allegheny County Sheriffs Fugitive Squad and the Greater Pgh Fugitive Task Force, with an additional 8 years on the Sheriffs Patrol Division and Court Divisions, along with experience in the Sheriffs Transportation and specialty squads. Mr. Rose was the Co-Founder, President and Chief Martial Arts Instructor for the Rose Athletic Club Inc. The Rose A.C. was a “not for profit” organization which provided training in American Boxing, Kickboxing, and the Martial Arts, focusing on the youth in the Pittsburgh communities, particularly delinquent and “at risk” youth. Mr. Rose was also the Founder of the ToraHana-Ryu Academy Of Self- Defense. Mr. Rose taught a pragmatic, eclectic system of self-defense incorporating the many years of experience in the Martial Arts, with emphasis on character building and social responsibility in the inner-city area of Pittsburgh. Mr. Rose has taught at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, YMCA, Pittsburgh Hill House Association, Rankin Christian Center, many other non-profit organizations. Mr. Rose also taught Olympic-style Boxing to youth. In late 2004 Mr. Rose traveled to Europe, to teach young men (ages 14- 22) at the Pioneer Centre Youth Camp in Kidderminster, England, United Kingdom, his martial art TFS. Through his martial art Mr. Rose lives the philanthropy that he teaches. Mr. Rose is also a Reiki Master/Teacher and a Qigong Teacher. Mr. Rose has been studying Martial Arts for over 36 years and has been teaching consistently for over 28 years. Mr. Rose is the founder, innovator, and master instructor of his expression of martial arts he calls Torahana- Ryu Fighting Science (TFS). The motto of TFS is “Tiger spirit, flower heart. Having the beauty and tranquility of a flower with the prowess and ferocity of a tiger” Mr. Rose is also an ordained minister, and a devout Christian who seeks to facilitate physical, emotional, and spiritual health in all.
